How Can Spinal Decompression Help Me?
Herniated and bulging discs are among the most common causes of lower back pain. The SpineMed Decompression Table is designed to treat these types of conditions.
It is a well known fact that damaged intervertebral discs seldom heal, as the discs are constantly under pressure. The SpineMed Table uses clinically proven principles to relieve pressure on vital structures of the lumbar and cervical spine and spinal nerves, reducing pressure inside the disc.
Through recent clinical trials, utilizing MRI pre and post treatment on a similar table, disc herniations were reduced significantly depending on the number of sessions performed, while healing of the annulus portion of the disc was also evident. The researchers also found increased water content in the disc resulting in re-hydration.
The SpineMed Table is designed to comfortably and accurately increase intersegmental disc space, providing non-surgical decompression of the spinal discs. The object of decompression is to reduce the pressure inside the discs and facilitate the transfer of fluids, nutrients and oxygen back into the disc.
When pressure inside the disc is reduced it creates a "negative pressure". This negative pressure draws the disc material away from the swollen nerve. This is the exact opposite action of the positive pressure that pushes the disc material from the inside out, causing our discs to rupture.
When the vertebrae are distracted away from one another, creating the negative pressure, a more agreeable healing environment is established. Water, oxygen, minerals and nutrients are now moving with greater ease back into the disc.
Healing can now occur more readily.
The spinal nerve root is extremely susceptible to the inflammatory fluid that is released from the disc when it is injured. The negative pressure created from the SpineMed table also serves to draw this noxious (pain producing) fluid away from the sensitive nerve root.
